The blade is thin, light, and has a long flat edge that is ideal for push or thrust cutting. The spine and choil are rounded to eliminate hotspots and sharp edges reducing fatique and increasing comfort, especially when using a pinch grip.

The blade is made of AEB-L stainless steel. AEB-L was originally developed for use with razor blades but it is also very well suited for cutlery. The fine grain of AEB-L makes the blade easy to sharpen, have good edge holding, have excellent edge stability and toughness.
The handle is comprised of a number of components including a bolster, frame, liner, and scales. The bolster and frame are made from a canvas micarta, a very durable, strong, hard wearing composite made from resin and woven cotton canvas. The scales are made from Richlite, a resin-infused recycled paper product. Richlite is also extremely durable, wear-resistant, and sustainable.
